St Andrew’s Church is the Parish Church of Tangmere. We are part of the Church of England in the Diocese of Chichester, West Sussex.
Our existing church building has stood in Tangmere for over 800 years, although the first church on the site dated from 680 AD. The 11th Century church, mentioned in the Doomsday Book, consisted of the present nave and chancel.
Most of the people who come to St Andrew’s are from Tangmere although quite a few come from the surrounding areas because they feel at home with the worship.
Priest in Charge
The Parochial Church Council (PCC) is made up of members of clergy and members of the congregation. Together they are responsible for the overall wellbeing, practical and spiritual, of their church, the church congregation and the buildings. The PCC is also expected to promote the mission of the Church within the wider community.
The PCC should ensure that appropriate arrangements are in place for worship and provide an opportunity for people of all ages to meet for prayer and worship. We welcome everyone to our Church and prayer and worship are at the heart of what we do.
